February
17th, 2005:
Mary Mazzeri
of Carpentersville, IL was awarded the prestigious title of
PDTI from the (International
Association of Canine Professionals). The Professional Dog Training
Instructor Certification is a rare honor. The rigorous testing
program tests an individuals teaching experience, canine behavior knowledge
base, human relational skills, business practices and ethics. The multi-faceted test includes
documentation of experience, a written exam, and a practical jury exam by peer
review.
Mazzeri has been teaching dog obedience classes in group and private formats for 35 years. When asked, "Why did you wait so long to do this testing?" she replied, "When I began as a dog trainer, there were no governing bodies that offered accreditation. Along the way several organizations sprang up that offered 'certification' but I felt that their requirements were inadequate. When I realized that the IACP set a very high standard, I wanted to endorse the testing process and to encourage others in my profession to come on board to validate their skills. The profession of dog training has come a long way in the last three decades. Lots of beginners hang out a shingle and don't really have the skills or experience they need. With the certification, a dog owning consumer can now select an experienced dog trainer with greater confidence and assurance. ~With an IACP professional, you and your dog are in Safe Hands.~ |
